• HOW CAN I MEET WITH A MENTOR?
Complete the required information on the Contact page and a ReMend Associate will respond within 48 hours.
• HOW CAN I BECOME A MENTOR?
We would love to hear from you! ReMend Mentors are required to complete a background check and a mentor training course. Click on the Contact page and let us know your level of interest.
• WHERE IS REMEND LOCATED AND IS THERE A COST?
There is no cost for ReMend services. While ReMend does not maintain a dedicated physical office, we gratefully utilize the facilities of Balboa Nephrology in La Jolla for occasional in-person meetings when necessary. Our mentors typically connect with patients at a mutually convenient public location, such as a coffee shop, and/or via phone for added flexibility.
• DO REMEND MENTORS SPEAK OTHER LANGUAGES?
Yes! ReMend Mentors who speak Spanish and Tagalog are available. Currently, we have a wait list for our Spanish-speaking friends.
• WHAT SERVICES DOES REMEND OFFER?
ReMend gives patients the opportunity to speak with someone who has been in their same situation. We match a ReMend mentor to the patient once a registration or referral form from the patient’s Social Worker has been completed.
A ReMend Intake Specialist will then reach out to learn more about the patient and their situation. Once matched, a ReMend mentor will contact the patient by phone or coordinate a time and location to meet at an agreed upon location.
• WHY DONATE TO REMEND?
With your donation, ReMend is able to continue being a resource to dialysis patients, their families, and the San Diego community. All funds received go directly to supporting ReMend’s overhead and administrative expenses that support an nearly 300 patients per year with no-cost, one-on-one mentoring to anyone facing kidney disease, beginning or continuing dialysis, and for people awaiting kidney transplant.
