Meet Dawn.

My hope is to offer encouragement, understanding, and reassurance…

Hello, I’m Dawn! I am a living donor kidney transplant recipient, and I know firsthand how overwhelming the kidney journey can feel. In 2016, I was diagnosed with end-stage kidney failure and began dialysis immediately. After eight months on dialysis, I received my transplant at Sharp Memorial on February 6, 2017. My donor was a close family friend who was an excellent match, and I will always be grateful for that incredible gift.

Now, nine years post-transplant, I am doing well and feel thankful for how far I’ve come. I once had the support of a ReMend mentor myself, and that experience meant so much to me. Coming back now as a mentor feels like a full-circle moment. I’m honored to give back and support others who are navigating dialysis, transplant, and life along the way. My hope is to offer encouragement, understanding, and reassurance so others know they do not have to go through this alone.
