Meet Larry.
I am thankful every day.
I am a retired Facilities Manager and I live in Colorado. I am a former Southern California resident and have lived here for 7+ years. I graduated from Azusa Pacific University with an emphasis on education. I played baseball in college and it’s my favorite sport. My hobbies are my two grandsons- enjoying time with them. I have season tickets to Air Force football and enjoy going to those games. I enjoy fishing and golf as well.
My journey with kidney disease began about 2.5 years ago (although I believe I had kidney issues going back further than that). I hired a private dietitian based in Nebraska and she helped me tremendously. I went full Vegan and followed the diet plan to the T and I firmly believe it made a huge difference in my recovery. I also followed a strong exercise plan. My wife and I researched as much as we could about the disease and what to do to recover and deal with it. My goal was to stay off dialysis and it was successful.
My wife donated a kidney to “move me up” on the live donor list. She has been the most important part of my journey and recovery. Shortly after she did that, I was blessed to get news that I would receive a live kidney on September 28, 2022.
I am doing great with my gift of life and I am thankful every day.
