Meet Jeanmarie.
“I hope to share both practical knowledge and emotional support with others who are walking a similar path.”
Hello, I'm Jeanmarie.
I was diagnosed with Lupus Nephritis when I was 16 years old. My native kidneys failed by the time I was 24, and on January 3, 2006, I received a living donor kidney transplant from my father. His selfless gift allowed me to live a full and meaningful life for nearly 20 years.
In 2025, after facing kidney failure again, I received a second kidney transplant from a deceased donor. As a two-time kidney transplant recipient, I understand firsthand the challenges, uncertainties, and emotions that can come with chronic kidney disease, transplantation, and life after transplant. I also know the incredible hope that transplantation can bring.
I love to help create educational content, facilitate support programs, host webinars and podcasts, and connect transplant recipients, living donors, care partners, and those waiting for a transplant. I am also involved with several patient advocacy organizations and am passionate about helping others navigate their kidney and transplant journeys.
I joined ReMend because I believe no one should have to face kidney disease alone. Having lived through dialysis planning, transplant evaluations, long-term transplant care, rejection concerns, medication challenges, and a second transplant, I hope to share both practical knowledge and emotional support with others who are walking a similar path.
Outside of advocacy, I enjoy hiking, traveling, photography, spending time with my family, and being an auntie. I have followed a primarily plant-based lifestyle for many years and have found that focusing on wellness, gratitude, and a positive mindset has helped me navigate the ups and downs of living with chronic illness.
I look forward to connecting with you and supporting you wherever you are on your journey.
