Me he convertido en una gran defensora de la comunidad… (I have become a big advocate for the community…)

Me llamo Yarieli Cuevas y me diagnosticaron enfermedad renal crónica a los 3 años. Desde entonces, he pasado por todo tipo de tratamientos, desde hemodiálisis en la clínica y diálisis peritoneal, hasta un trasplante que duró 11 años. Lamentablemente, en 2019 el trasplante falló y desde entonces he vuelto a la diálisis, realizando hemodiálisis en casa.

Me he convertido en una gran defensora de la comunidad, participando en varios grupos y alzando la voz por quienes no la tienen, especialmente por la comunidad latina/hispana.

Espero poder guiar a otros pacientes en sus propios caminos, compartiendo mis conocimientos y experiencias.

My name is Yarieli Cuevas and I was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease at the age of 3. Ever since I have been through everything from in-center hemodialysis, peritoneal and a transplant that lasted 11 years. Unfortunately in 2019 it failed and I’ve been back on dialysis ever since doing home-hemodialysis.

I have become a big advocate for the community getting involved with multiple groups and speaking for those without a voice specially for the latin/hispanic community.

I look forward to help guide other patients in their own journeys with my knowledge and experiences.
